The second half of life..

Helicopter Heroes

F, H, S arrived late last night......really late.......  The hospital were incredible, and knowing the gravity of the situation were OK about F&Co getting to K's bedside, even though it was past midnight.  C took us to a hotel she'd booked just a few minutes walk away then headed to her friends for a sleep.  Back to the hospital in morning.

Text to C:
Our pre-op meeting with the surgeon and support team has made us all feel a lot more hopeful - there's still a risk to life but the back up and support they've planned to deal with a range of possible issues is huge.  We really couldn't ask for more from them.

Txt to T:
K had a good night and was brought out of sedation for a short while this morning so she could communicate with with us.  She'll be going to surgery again in a few hours and whilst we know it's potentially life threatening we also know there's no option.

Second txt to T:
K was set to go for surgery about midday..... then pushed out to 3pm...... then finally confirmed as all go abt 5.30pm.  Whilst we know it's potentially life threatening we also know there's no option.   We'll hear tonight how things have gone.

Image is of an emergency helicopter landing on the helipad immediately outside the ICU and viewable from just outside K's room.  What an incredible set-up......no wonder this ICU department has such an awesome reputation.
