Cherry Scones

Today's the day ....................... to bake

I had planned another day in the garden today - but the weather decided otherwise, and we woke up to heavy rain.

So, it was a day inside and I took a notion to make some scones.  I remembered that one of the delights that we brought home from France earlier in the year, was a little jar of preserved cherries.  They came from the kitchen of Benoit, son of our friend Marie claire - and we know that anything that comes from there is going to be absolutely delicious.  So some of them went into the scones too.

Will was busy too - making bread - but using a sort of fermented dough that he has never made before.  It had been working away in the fridge overnight.  With some of it, he made a couple of baguettes, that we had for lunch (see extra).  Then, with the rest, he added buckwheat flour and dark rye flour and made three round loaves of Breton Bread.

And I have to tell you that all of the above - were scrumptious ..................!
