It is Sunday!

The Baritone Band

Last night was a very special occasion for us as we had got tickets for the Baritone Band at Leasowes Bank Farm, Ratlinghope, Shropshire SY5 0SW.

But this is no ordinary jazz band it has 4 baritone saxes and a flugelhorn together with grandpiano, bass and drums - a truly awesome and probably unique line up.

And Leasowes is no ordinaruy farm - it has been the venue of jazz concerts for the past 33 years

And last night was no ordinary night - it was the last jazz concert hosted by John (baritone ) and Frances Williams. - we just made the last one!!.

We were on our way back fro Cardiganshire, Wales to the Lake District and had booked in at the Bottle and Glass pub at Pickerscott - a village that took some finding as the SATNAV lost its signal and we ran out of OS maps!! a village between the Stiperstones and Longmynd for all geological enthusiasts.

And in booking the tickets 2 seats at the front were reserved for us so that I could do this sketch. A magical night with a good pint of beer at hand and the great joy that they were delighted with this memorable sketch!!

So the line up from the left -
John Williams - baritone saxophone, recorder, bass clarinet (lead)
Jay Craig - baritone saxophone, clarinet
Karen Sharp - baritone and tenor saxophones
Chris Biscoe - baritone and alto saxophones, alto clarinet
Dick Pearce, trumpet & flugelhorn
And behind........
John Horler - piano,
Tom Mark - bass,
Trevor Tomkins - drums
