Well, I didn't see that coming.  

I've been thinking about changing my approach to blipping as I my previous modus operandi has been to get to the end of the day with the intention of using the best one.  However, although this worked well for many years, it's clearly failing these days.  Falling asleep on the sofa is probably why.  

Today, however, my photo was in the bag by 00.20 and it's unlikely to be improved on. 

We were just about to head to bed after the news (before falling asleep!) when I picked up my phone and saw all the posts about the lights.   Let's go!

A 15 minute scramble to find a tripod, charge dead camera batteries (failed), put on some insulation and we headed out to find dark skies.  

It didn't look too promising, driving around the highest villages we could find.  I suggested we could have, should have ... headed towards Crich, Black Rocks etc but we ended up in the Ashbourne direction and, bingo, here we are.
