Road and rail thru the hills....

Monday..sun and not too bad..

Second week of the school holidays and we are not planning much each day.
I have been in the office this morning , and then Ella and I took Banjo up to the park this afternoon as it was nice weather again, not quite as brilliant as yesterday , but still great for winter.

This is taken from there, and shows the railway line that runs thru our valley from the city heading thru the Port Hills and ending up on the other side in Lyttleton, at the port where it ends. The boats there then all load up with coal and timber and head off to sea...

I was trying to be clever and hoped to get a shot of a train coming or going out of the tunnel, and waited for ages, but none appeared!
A bus did go by on the road above though!
It would have been great to have got them both at the same time.

The road also heads thru the hills in its own tunnel, which I have blipped before.
