Catch a fire
My head is spinning.
First, I had to phone a guest house in Whitby to say that my sister is sharing a room with me when we go there in a fortnight for a music festival. The price will be the same, thankfully. I'm glad my sister's coming, she has just started a new job, and the Mod is on in Oban, so she's busy catering for it. We do love our festivals, when we are not working.
Next, I went to see S, whom I haven't seen for five weeks. He wanted to tell me about a meeting he'd had about some historic grievances. I suggested that maybe he should consider studying Law, as he is very interested in principles. I also had to give him some adult guidance about men-only saunas, of all things. (My years on the helpline were not wasted).
Later, I went down to town to meet a friend. We had a great lunch at an Italian restaurant, and she told me she didn't want to go on a coach trip with me to Donegal next year, so then we talked about the Isle of Wight, and then she said she'd quite like to do a different coach holiday to Ireland, so we decided to do that instead (my sister TML will be envious, maybe she can join us).
Then I walked home via the charity shops, as I was expecting a call from an old schoolmate. We are going to India next year on our '61 years alive' tour, and we've never been away together for more than a couple of nights, so we've hatched a plan to meet in Chester for three nights in November. I have wanted to go to Chester for about seven years, so this is fantastic! I have booked everything already. We may not be able to eat, but I will bring chocolate and crispbreads. Before we go to Chester, the same friend (plus or minus her daughter) is popping in to see us in early November, on her way back from Wilts with her daughter's 2.5 m kayak in the van. This has to be transported to Loch Eil. I feel a Peat and Diesel song coming on...
My friends call me the travel agent. I did think for a while about becoming one, but the pandemic put me off. Mostly it would be about data entry and upselling, as I wouldn't be taking a balloon flight across Paris myself. Now there's a thing I haven't done!
I hope I haven't still got CoVid brain, as my arrangements for future trips may turn out to be all wrong. (Did I mention that while I had CoVid, I ordered myself a macrame Christmas tree angel, and entered some incorrect data on our team spreadsheet ?)
I have not done much else today, apart from drink wine and eat snacks, and sort a load of washing. And, of course, take weird pictures of bracken growing in the front garden.
