Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Exciting visitor!

Today we ticked another job off the pre-cruise to-do list: We did a winter trim of the hedge. Mainly just the straggly bits at the top, but everywhere really. I got carried away and weeded and cleared out our bit of the gutters.

It was a lovely sunny day, with a wee nip in the air, but no wind. I took Archie to the Links twice (6,687 steps, nearly a match for JR today).

Hamish and his dad wandered by, much to Archie’s excitement! Last time I saw Hamish, quite a while ago, he had been limping. After X-rays and expensive investigations at the vet, showed nothing, it got miraculously better. But his dad is now limping, having trained for, and run a half marathon last weekend. His feet are very sore, with several toenails now missing!!

Enjoying a new series we came across through ‘what to watch’ recommendations in the Guardian. ‘The Dry’. It’s set in Ireland, a woman in her 30s having to come back to live at home. She’s a recovering alcoholic, so it’s very hard to cope with her Granny’s traditional wake in Episode One - a promising gentle comedy so far.

Having said that after two episodes, it’ll probably turn awful - rude and raunchy… with probably a gory murder…
