Crocus laevigatus

The Autumn Crocuses are popping up daily in greenhouse and cold frame.  Another from Greece where it has a wide distribution on mainland and across many islands.  The isolation of the island plants means that many different forma have evolved which flower from October through to March.   All are diminutive, less showy than some species but all are beautiful too :-)

A walk for Meg on the beach this morning with Jane and John.   Wide open spaces on the sands but quite a few dogs so Meg was only off lead for a little while.   After lunch I spent the afternoon helping at an induction day at pottery.  Six prospective new members on a four Sunday course.   Fun to help newbies and realise how much I have learnt in the last two years.

A bit of time in the greenhouse after, then tea and an evening sorting crocus seeds for a seed exchange.  Still tired after my very late aurora night so I'll retire early again tonight.
