Boots
After too many beers with an American friend who lives in Lisbon, I sorted myself out with a walk in the hilly streets, a coffee and some orange cake.
I think I am getting too big for my boots when it comes to Lisbon. I was nearby a line of dozens of tourists queuing for a tram, waiting for the tram to pass by so I could snap it. A tout approached me and tried to sell some sort of tour. I had the audacity to say não sou turista. I am not a tourist. Which is not a factual statement. Arrogance, but a sign that I feel at home here.
Again I mostly filled the day with wandering, especially in the areas of Alcântara and Campo de Ourique. Hours spent enjoying backstreet cafes, faded shopfronts and narrow alleyways. The day was topped off delightfully with a pineapple and passionfruit gelato.
