Phoenix with wheelie bins
Either I’m very unobservant, or this is new. It’s just around the corner from the Oxfam shop. I rather like it - except perhaps for the eyelashes. Interestingly, I discovered I hadn’t understood the legend of the phoenix correctly - apparently it rises again from its own ashes. I had thought it rose from ashes eg of a destroyed place - and hence might be a hopeful metaphor for peoples whose homes are ashes in the present day . But I was wrong.
It rained so hard, nearly all day - the description my mum would have used was ‘stair rods’ ie coming vertically down in huge quantities. The happy news for me was that it didn’t come through my newly repaired roof:-))
At the Oxfam shop there was only me and the deputy manager, a lovely Romanian man who likes death metal and has lots of tattoos. One of the nicest souls. He’s also studying English Literature at the uni. I was very pleased to succeed in getting to grips with several parts of this complex new IT system. To be fair he did teach me pretty well, so that I understood it.
