Saturday

We did a lot today!

We went into town with my mother and sister as R wanted to wander around and relive some memories. Some places she remembers well!

We wandered over to The Crammer, the pond where smugglers supposedly convinced excisemen that they were attempting to rake cheese (actually a reflection of the moon) out of it. In reality, they were retrieving a keg of contraband brandy. Whether it's true or not, it's the reason why people in Wiltshire are sometimes referred to as Moonrakers.

On our way back we stopped by my uncle's house to see my cousins and their guinea pigs. R particularly liked a ginger one named Cinnamon!

Finally, we went for a walk in Avebury, walking past the ancient manmade Silbury Hill and reaching the ancient stones. The weather was surprisingly warm, though we had to deal with some very muddy parts!

It was a good but tiring day.
