Blessing for a baby

After a very busy couple of days making bulk stocks of Christmas cards, I have had a more restful day today. I’m pleased to have 68 packs of ten Christmas cards made so far, with online orders to date for a further 48 packs, which I will make once the church sale is over.

This morning we watched our church service online, and then our daughter-in-law popped in for a coffee while our youngest granddaughter was at a pizza-making birthday party nearby. Later on this afternoon the whole family came back and we had a late Sunday lunch together.

This blanket was knitted by my lovely mother, who would by now be 103. It was one of two she knitted for me when my sons were born. They are a blessing for a baby based on the Shetland "Robe of Glory" pattern. This one was then used by my daughter-in-law for her two daughters, and is now used by those same little girls to keep Dolly warm in her pram.

I took a photo of it for today’s blip because I’ve been thinking a lot about my Mum today. I found a piece of costume jewellery of hers recently, which I gave to the girls this afternoon – a special ‘diamond’ necklace for them to use when they’re dressing up!
