Wound up in Wexford

Harps galore

Lovely autumn weather.  And a lovely day out in Gorey.

When we went to the harp concert a few weeks ago, the leader of the group, Aileen Kennedy, had spoken about a concert they were doing in Gorey for Harp Day.  Further investigation revealed they were also doing a "Hands on Harps" session at the library that morning.

So we took advantage to go along and talk to her.  Much useful information - including the discovery that Gorey has its very own harp maker.  She pointed us in the direction of his shop.  Mind you - these harps, which were admittedly beautiful bits of wood work, were €4600 each, and we weren't really planning to spend quite that much!  Aileen did tell us about someone who does a more budget harp, but he's away up in Meath - a long drive.

The concert in the church was lovely.  Aileen had also got the mums and dads involved.  The mums (and other female relatives) did one piece, then the dads (and other male relatives) also did a piece.

In extras, a couple of lovely youngsters who came to the library to have a go on the harp, and Cruitirí Loch Garman in St Michael's Church, Gorey.
