Chicago Skyline
Started my day today in the steam room of the Peninsula. I've been bunged up for a few days now and not sleeping to well, so Martin suggested I try and clear my sinuses out. It helped and I was very comfortable in there. Just reinforced to me that I really do prefer the heat.
Our last day in Chicago today so Martin and I hit the
shops and then came back and got the kids to do the architectural tour of Chicago on the river. Quite interesting.
Okay I'm going to say this ..... it was boiling! I do not remember the last time we were so hot and sweaty and exposed to the sun for an hour and a half.
After that we headed to the Navy Pier and enjoyed another all American experience, a meal at Bubba Gumps, made famous by Forrest Gump. It is a restaurant that specialises in all things 'shrimp'! We were even quizzed on our knowledge of the movie.
I had gumbo, which was actually quite tasty. Then a quick ride on the ferrous wheel where I got this pic of Chicago's skyline from the top of the wheel at Navy Pier.
Finally finished the day with a game of pool and a movie.
I have really enjoyed Chicago but do appreciate that we are here in summer and not in the freezing winter. Colorado Springs tomorrow!
