A fresh perspective

Today was wet in the morning and dry and sunny by afternoon. So we allowed ourselves a slow start to the day. Although the time zone is the same as the UK, the daylight hours run about two hours later than at home.

We used the hotel minibus service to take us into Funchal and back and reacquainted ourselves with what's where, approaching the town from a different route from on our previous visits.

Our approach to the whole holiday has changed somewhat, with our various health issues, but we are nearly 20 years older than the first time we came.

Beautiful Catarina Park is still a focal point, where this Acalypha wilkesiana or Jacob's Coat, looked stunning. Another one in Extras. Three cruise ships were in the harbour. Two were so enormous they made the third look tiny.
