Walking tour of the Nottingham sights
Today started with a walk around the arboretum before a tram trip to the city centre. We returned to the Fox cafe for lunch before popping into the tourist centre where a delightful man explained a tour of the city and offered us a walking tour map. Some very unusual destinations were on the tour including a 2 meter diameter mirror, the oldest Inn in England, the castle and Robin Hood statue, an ornate lattice door and frontage to the lace factory, and the first Boots retail shop (now a Zara). The Boots building was a gorgeous Art Deco 1920s department store with ornate wooden windows and high ceilings. I couldn't resist a browse and finished up buying a beautiful, soft cardigan with fancy buttons.
Reflecting on our weekend away G and I agreed, that Nottingham is somewhere we shall definitely return to.
Then we called Cno2 on the return trip home, so catching up on their house buying news seemed to shorten the journey and soon we were back in Maldon. Cno2 and N are looking to move out of the city of Leeds to a small town. I shall enjoy looking at the houses that have been shared.
