ride the 84

We awoke to clear skies and -4 C in Baker City, Oregon. The rain from last night has welded itself on to my car in every crevice. After our hearty breakfast we sat in the car with the engine running until the windows were clear. I got my first shot of the snowy ridge above Baker City, Oregon before we left the parking lot.

We were on our way to Twin Falls, Idaho on hwy 84. The sun was brilliant and the traffic was light.

We stopped just inside the Idaho border to get a view of the Snake River. Across the road, a sign referencing the Oregon Trail was posted by the highway.

We made good time getting into Twin Falls. Our dinner of choice was  at the Texas Roadhouse, a popular chain restaurant. This restaurant serves peanuts in the shell as a welcome to patrons. In the past, it was the habit to toss the empty peanut shells onto the floor of the restaurant. I'm pleased to say this custom seems to have been discontinued, but the sign on the outside remains. The food was delicious in this combination restaurant and sports bar.

We're calling it another early night. Tomorrow, we'll be in to Utah.
