Just say you love me...
You don't have to mean it...
More on that later :-)
While the painting work is happening in the kitchen and garden room, D and I have decanted to the living room, so it was in there I sat eating lunch (delicious chicken & mango salad sandwich with mayo from the Auchterlarder....see what they did there? :-) whilst nervously waiting for my first glimpse of the kitchen with the dark blue paint we have chosen to replace the Ammonite (very pale grey) that was there before.
By 2pm I could wait no longer and sneaked past the kitchen door for a quick glimpse. First coat on but wow! I love it! :-))
When the painters left just after 4pm most of the walls had had their second coat and I was able to get a much better idea of how the completed room will look. Completely different! But in a good way! :-))
There actually isn't a lot of wall space in the kitchen and the kitchen wall and floor cupboards are painted in F&B's All White (described as a totally pure white without the colder blue undertones of a brilliant white) with the island cupboard doors painted in F&B's Cornforth White (a very pale grey), so it's bright enough to take a dark colour.
I am now really excited for the arrival of the new sofas for the garden room and deciding how to "dress" both rooms. Moving artwork and nik naks around as well as adding a few new bits and pieces should change things even more. Good fun :-)
And as if that wasn't excitement enough, D and I had tickets to see our favourite band, Hue and Cry, at Perth Concert Hall on their 40th Anniversary tour. FORTY YEARS?!!!! How is that even possible?Unfortunately Keith and Mairi couldn't make it as Keith was having his delayed operation today, but Agnes and Adrian stepped in.
We arranged to meet them near Cafe Kisa in Perth where we were having dinner before the concert. We got parked very close by and they spotted us and came over just as we were getting out of the car. Into my wheels and as I switched the power on to the handset a warning triangle appeared on the handset display showing no power. WTF?! Did the usual fix - switched it off and on again. Same thing. Another go...same result! It became clear my wheels were going nowhere using battery power!
By now we were 5 minutes late for our dinner reservation so sent Agnes and Adrian to let them know were coming and nothing else for it but to put the chair in manual mode and D to push!!
Thankfully the whole area is flat and the concert hall is literally 20 paces from the restaurant and it's all level too, otherwise it would have been game over for D and me as far as our night out was concerned!
We had an absolutely delicious meal in the restaurant then off to the concert hall. When we arrived we couldn't see anyone to show the tickets to so D just pushed me in and kept walking, only for us to be chased and accosted by a woman who had been checking tickets but he hadn't seen her. Much hilarity!
Got to our seats without further incident (great view) and the band took to the stage at 8.30pm. What a night! Superb as ever. Even with Pat clearly fighting a cold he was in superb voice. We have followed them for a long time (almost all of those 40 years. First concert was at Govan Town Hall in May 1988! :-) and seen them live countless times and Pat's voice just gets better and better. Also great to hear the amazing talents of saxophonist Paul Towndrow (whose mum used to be a blipper)
Concert ended just after 10pm, said cheerio to Agnes and Adrian (who had never seen Hue and Cry live before, and thought they were brilliant :-) and drove home very happy.
D will be reliving the experience all over again tomorrow night as he's off to Glasgow to see them again! :-))
