River Ericht
I had a lovely long sleep and then lay in bed reading my book. What a lovely start to my day – I really did feel like I was on holiday.
It was a nice morning, after breakfast my mum was pottering in the kitchen making soup and prepping tea, and my dad was pottering in the garden. I went out for a walk up a small local hill and admired the views, then I took a different route back and made it into a circular walk. I didn’t spot any squirrels this morning though. Although it was bright and sunny, the views to the hills weren’t as clear as I thought they would be.
The soup was ready when I got back home and after lunch we headed off to Blairgowrie – this was my mum’s choice. It was always her choice when we were young, and I remember thinking it was a very boring place to go on an afternoon out. It’s still not very exciting. We had a nice drive there, and the views to the hills was much clearer than earlier in the day, with lots of autumnal colours to admire on the way. We parked up and had a wander through the town. Like many high streets nowadays there wasn’t much going on. We did stop for a cuppa and a cake in a cafe that has been around for many years, I think it says it was established in 1906.
The drive home was really lovely, along the side of the valley of Strathmore to Kirriemuir then to home. The views and the colours were very autumnal. When we got back home, I went for a walk around by a local farm, and back through the fields.
After tea we watched some TV, including the bake off – which I haven’t watched for years.
The River Ericht was looking golden in the late afternoon sunshine, but I am not sure that my blip quite does it justice.
