Marjorie's ramblings

Cottage industry?

My friend Lesley makes candles to sell at the Hexham Abbey Christmas Fayre every year. This involves her in collecting bits of candle from friends and family, but mainly from churches, and recycling them into pretty concoctions.

She knows all about the sort of wicks and the size of container to use.

I was at Steve and Lesley's for tea (scones - well one scone) and chat this afternoon.

It's been a difficult 24 hours. Late yesterday evening, I took a phone call from Mark, Margret's son. Margret had arrived safely by train and car, but had a stroke during the evening.

She was admitted quickly to Addenbrookes Hospital. A cerebral haemorrhage due to high blood pressure was diagnosed. She has weakness down her right side and slurred speech.

This was terrible news in all ways. Frank's (Margret's son's) funeral was today at 12. Margret's condition improved overnight but she had to stay in hospital.

I contacted various people who can also tell others.

The funeral was visible by Zoom. It was a beautiful service with a lot of moving content and lasted for 1hr 20mins. Then there was to be a burial in the churchyard.

Frank started to sing in the church choir was he was a boy of 8 and continued to do so until his untimely death at 60.

I was at Liz and Nick's this morning for coffee. Both Liz and another friend, Liesbeth, both offered to be with me through the service. It was thoughtful but I preferred to be on my own.

It's all a bit much right now.
