New glasses...
This morning we went off to the opticians just around the corner, to pick up our new glasses. Up to now, it has just been me that needed them, but 4 years on it was time for a correction.
My wife has needed glasses for work, as sitting at her PC she realised her vision was deteriorating. Reading too. So she was just using off the shelf glasses with magnified lenses.
Our daughter needs glasses to "rest" her eyes. At college, she was having to move her face to close to a page she was reading, then when looking up, the white board was blurred.
With the reimbursement from the health insurance, the price is reasonable. I'd say the "real" cost of my glasses is about the same as my old ones, from 4 years ago.
Now I need to get used to the lenses again. They are variafocals, so the ground looks closer than it is when I'm walking. Which my eyes will compensate for eventually. Like last time I've got photochromatic lenses that go dark in sunlight, plus UV protection. This time round I've had a layer added to protect my eyes when using a screen. Can't remember what it is called.
The frames are all integral and plastic. My old ones were metal with a plastic thing along the top. They started to fall apart and the paint has rubbed off in places. Plus the little pads that go onto the bridge of my nose, fell off. They were replaced, but didn't last long. So not comfortable to wear.
