Back to the 1970s

It was a lovely morning, perfect for chores and laundry.  It’s great to be able to hang the washing outside in October and get it dried.  Later in the morning I popped into town to do a few errands and to have a wander around the Farmers’ Market.  It was busy, and in fact town felt busy, in part because the high Street was being taken back in time to the 1970s to be used as a film set.  I came home, sorted out more laundry and left some lunch out for BB – who was still in bed – and headed back out to meet a couple of friends for lunch.  BB was correct in his assumption, that he wouldn’t be getting a lift to rugby!

We went to a café I haven’t been to for ages, and we were all agreed that the food was really good, as we all enjoyed what we had chosen.  We were rather too full to enjoy a sweet treat, but ordered a lovely lemon traybake and cut it in three – a couple of mouthfuls was all we needed – and I must say it was also delicious.  We had a good old catch up, and there was lots to catch up on.  We used to meet up every Saturday morning at rugby, but our boys have all gone in different directions since leaving school, and we haven’t seen each other since back in the summer.  We left agreeing to do it again sometime soon.

I dashed home again and took some of the washing in, before heading out to the rugby match.  My usual companions were not there this week, so I watched most of it on my own.  I caught up with a friend and his boys towards the end of the game, when I was starting to feel cold as the sun had disappeared and the wind had got up.  The boys had another good win, and BB scored two tries and was happy this week.  I walked back round by the river in a bid to warm up – with the added bonus that I spotted a kingfisher, the first one I have seen for months.

Once home, I pottered and sorted out some tea for one.  I finished the Royal Scandal and started watching Slow Horses.  I am rather late to that party,  TT has ready the book and has watched the TV series, but I am just starting on series one.  I’ve enjoyed it so far.
Home – pottered, tea

I was in bed when BB appeared home.  He came and had a chat with me, which was nice of him!

Our High Street was being transformed today -  into a 1970s version of Market Street in St Andrew’s for a film – Borges and Me.  This café has had a complete makeover and re-naming, and the bookshop next door has been named after the café.
