At Lud's Church
This being half-term, Richard and I had a Tuesday off - Marianna's mum Liana is visiting from Greece and is looking after Simone and Frieda.
We took the opportunity to get out for a walk. Lud's Church is a narrow chasm in woodland down near the Roaches in Staffordshire, lined with ferns and mosses; it's a favourite walk of ours, but we realised that we hadn't been there since before Covid (how time flies..) When we got there it was raining, but this stopped more or less as we got out of the car. We still haven't fully adapted to the clocks changing, so we were out early, and got there soon after 9 a.m. - a good thing, since it's a popular place. We were lucky to have it largely to ourselves this morning.
Lud's Church has an interesting history, and also has a place in fiction and legend:

I haven't really done it justice here, in the two images; it's hard to capture. But fun to try. The balding man was a passing walker, it's not Richard :-)
