Salmon Fishing, the Old Way

This collection of nets form what is called a 'Stake' net which is a very old way of fishing for salmon in tidal water, and is unique to the Solway. Every tide the owner brings his quad bike down to see what the tide has brought in.

If you ask about what the harvest is, thing become a bit fuzzy in terms of quantity, however to my mind it must be quite decent given the standard of maintenance required to keep the netting in good nick.

Does make pretty patterns though.
