Our Day

We were up by 6:30 and in our car before 9:00. First of all, the first photo is not mine. Lauren sent it to us soon after we got on the road. Mancil and Madi helped Lauren with the big baby reveal. Lauren had the sealed envelope from her sonogram with the baby’s sex written on paper. They all went to the nearby state park. Lauren had blue and pink outfits for River and Isla. Madi dressed them in the appropriate color and then the parents turned around to see what they were having. Mancil photographed the event. Lauren and Billy both want a boy so they are thrilled. So is River; Isla is clueless. She had mouth surgery on Friday so her greatest concern is when she can eat normally again. Our drive has been without incident so far. We always enjoy the scenery throughout Virginia. The leaves are mostly past their peak colors but some trees are still gorgeous. We had our picnic lunch on a hill at a rest stop. With temps in the upper 70°s F, it was lovely to dine outside amongst the trees. Kristen’s leftovers were better than anything we could get in a restaurant. We should reach our hotel a little after 5:00 pm. We have scoped out a local restaurant for dinner. I am sure hubby looks forward to pjs and a glass of wine. It’s been a long drive. Wishing you some quiet time. Stay safe. Thanks for your visit.
"Go, sit upon the lofty
hill, And turn your eyes
around, Where waving
woods and waters wild
Do hymn an autumn
sound. The summer sun
is faint on them-
The summer flowers
depart--Sit still-as all
transform'd to stone,
Except your musing
heart.”
-Elizabeth Barrett Browning
