My hospital appointment follow-up letter arrived today, referring to my 'acute kidney injury' before going on to talk about the results of my appointment. I do not have an acute kidney injury (or if I do, this is not the way to tell me about it), so I suspect my notes have been shuffled with someone else's. A similar thing happened four years ago, but worse, where the whole body of the letter addressed to me was about someone else.
My economics is nothing like good enough to understand all the implications of today's budget but I really hope that some of the new funding allocated to the NHS will go towards improving admin and management rather than just expanding it. I was shocked three weeks ago to learn that hospitals and GPs use different codes for blood tests and it seems there is an awful lot more than that which needs tidying.
