Cirque de Gavarnie
Col des Tentes conquered with thirty solid miles of climbing and finishing at 7422 feet! It's the highest I've ever been, including by bike...and the longest climb I've ever done. Absolutely incredible scenery and splendid isolation too.
It was then 12 miles back down before heading up the Cirque de Troumouse but a huge road closure meant turning round 5.5 miles into the 10 mile climb. Still, I got to do lots of it and that's nothing to moan about at all. :-)
By the time I was back in Argelès-Gazost, I'd clocked up another fab ride taking in brilliant hills but also pretty little villages such as Luz-Saint-Saveur and Gèdre.
One to remember. :-)
