Nashville
Today is the Feast of All Saints. We got up at 6:00 and were at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church by 7:30. It was built in 1960 so it is a bit modern but beautiful. Great way to start our busy day. The next agenda item was lunch and a show on the General Jackson River boat. It was fun watching the huge red paddles propelling that big boat down the Cumberland River. We had assigned seats in the dinner theater and we got to know several new couples from different parts of the country while we enjoyed that tasty southern buffet. When we returned to our hotel, the tour bus was waiting to take us to downtown Nashville. In my wildest imagination, I didn’t expect what we saw. We walked down Broadway Street which is appropriately called “Honky Tonk Highway”. There were bands playing by open windows in every building and sometimes on every level, even on the roof. We walked up and down the main street and some of the side streets. I wanted to see the original building that housed the Grand Ole Opry. It is pictured in the second row, last frame. It is a shame it has moved so far away from Broadway street. Hubby bought me homemade coconut ice cream that I shared with him. We decided we had to go into at least one “honky Tonkin” before going home. We chose to go to the roof level of the Whiskey River Saloon. Hubby ordered us an appetizer of spicy chicken, Mac and cheese and French fries with chipotle aioli. What a weird combo but it was not bad. Hubby had a beer and I tried a mimosa with cranberry vs. orange juice. So we’ve been immersed in the music city brights sights and loud sounds and actually enjoyed it. Hoping you have a new enjoyable experience this weekend. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. “In Nashville, the skies sing with the stars and the streets dance with dreams.” – Anonymous
