Grey and dismal for
us today, but a short trek
to Arizona

~carliewired

Our beautiful sunshine has eluded us today. It was high cloud and grey
as we set off after breakfast for Page, Arizona. We were soon out of Utah and into Arizona.

We stopped at the lookout over Lake Powell. The lake is a reservoir on the Colorado River and is  shared in the states of Utah and Arizona. It is a major vacation destination. Lake Powell was created by the flooding of the Glen Canyon Dam, our second stop.

We stopped into the Glen Canyon Dam visitors' centre to view the dam and the arched Glen Canyon Bridge beside it on hwy 89.

I was surprised to learn that the dam produces the power for 5 states, including Arizona.

We motored on to Page, Arizona and had some lunch in the downtown. We spied a hot air balloon basket sitting in the back of a truck in the parking lot. There is to be a display of hot air balloons in the downtown this evening. We'll see if we can get there.

Tomorrow, we'd hoped to see something of the Grand Canyon, but weather is questionable so we will have to see....
