Crocus cartwrightianus

One of two species which keep their flowers open at night, most likely having evolved through pollination by night flying moths.  Handy for a blip on a very grey day.  No rain, just flat, grey light.

A quiet day.   Long lie in.  Fair bit of admin.   A walk for Meg.  A spell at pottery where two more thrown pieces are now drying.  I am pushing my boundaries, trying different forms.  Today a rounded bowl and a closed form, the latter I hope to turn into a lidded jar, perhaps a jam pot but that stage can't happen until the piece is leather hard.  An extra pic of the two, the bowl almost collapsed, I had gone too thin in the top part.  I'll find out tomorrow if it kept it's shape.

My late afternoon snooze ran on into early evening, so I didn't go out to join the fun at Rhydyronen where the railway has it's end of season bash.  I'd have missed the fireworks anyway and can pop out to say goodbye to J, J & J tomorrow.   Stopping in meant I ate well as there was time to cook a korma and a baked sponge.  Yum.
