Crocket Tavern

The kids were working today so we rested. Hubby took me to a “The Little Dutch restaurant” for lunch. They served a delicious American soup and salad bar. We went in search of interesting blip sites and found this reconstructed cabin of the 1790’s John Crockett Tavern. Looks like it may need a bit of refurbishment. The inscription on the historical plaque reads: “Here stood the Crockett Tavern, established and operated by John and Rebecca Crockett, parents of David Crockett (1786-1836). It was the boyhood home of this pioneer and political leader of Tennessee who was later a victim of the Alamo Massacre at San Antonio, Texas.” Hubby brought me back to the hotel and headed over to pick up Mike. They collected some items from his storage unit and came back to join me. Bob is making us dinner after work. He has become a talented cook. We had a toffee cheesecake he made for Riley’s birthday last night and it was a “10”. We probably will not see Jillian. When she isn’t in beautician classes, she is working in a town about 40 miles from here. We hope to be back some time after Christmas. I think today’s rest has greatly helped my knees/legs. Long drives play havoc on them, even more than long walks. Wishing you some rest time today. Stay safe. Thanks for dropping by. “I have suffered myself to be politically sacrificed to save my country from ruin and disgrace, and if I am never again elected, I will have the gratification to know that I have done my duty.” - Davy Crockett
