Hydrangea
After my walk with Xena this morning I went off to meet my golf buddy to play 9 holes at the club where we are both members. It was grey and quite cool today, I could have done with a warmer top under my thin golf jacket. We want to try and play as much as possible before it gets too cold and the course gets too muddy! I played okay today, a bit frustrated as we were waiting on every hole for the very slow fourball of women in front of us - they were so slow and made no effort to hurry up, spent ages looking for lost balls etc - and of course they ignored the golf etiquette of offering for us to pass through.
I waited in for my parcel to be re-delivered but eventually had to leave to go to golf, so left a very polite note requesting that the parcel be placed in my delivery box. The courier did not not do that or leave a card saying where the parcel was (was it with the post office or returned to the depot?). I went to our local post office and they said the courier had left some parcels there today, but not mine! I phoned the courier company (Parcel Force) and requested that the parcel be taken to my local post office tomorrow. We will see what tomorrow brings!!
I had not taken any photos today so wandered around my garden in the gloomy light at about 4pm and took this photo of an unexpected new hydrangea flower - all the others have died off and are starting to go brown and wither. Unusually for me I have converted it to black and white, as I think it looked better than the colour version. There was a time when I converted many of my images to mono, but I have learnt not to do that unless the image looks better in mono, as not all images do.
I am starting to pack for my trip to Spain to photograph the lynxes. I hope we see them. Another member of my camera club was there about two weeks ago, with another photo leader, and he never saw any until he spent time in a hide. The person I am going with, a member of my camera club who has recently gone into wildlife photography full time now, won an award at the British Photography Awards ceremony last night - he is a very good wildlife photographer.
Thinking of our fellow blippers in the USA who are voting today - not a great choice of candidates for them. Mind you, our new government is not exactly covering themselves in glory at the moment either (no surprise there!)
