Blades of grass poke through

The pretty tree near the house has dropped all of its leaves.

I woke up this morning to several news notifications on my phone. They continued throughout the day until I disabled them. I am keeping them off for a week. I just can't stand it. This election was disgusting.

I honestly don't know what to say. I want to be wrong and have hope, but it's hard to have hope when the person who won ran a campaign on hatred and lies.

I'm afraid for my Native, Black, and brown family and friends. I'm afraid for my LGBTQ+ friends and family. I'm fearful that marginalized people I don't even know will be harmed, both directly and indirectly, because hatred has won.

I'm worried that we're going to lose so much that will affect this country for generations. Education, the environment and climate, healthcare, infrastructure, jobs, welfare, justice and the arts are all targeted and will be worse off because of it. Hate should not be given a platform. I fear for this country and its people.
