Barter books, Alnwick
Our first stop today was Barter books in Alnwick (blipped). This was more of a pilgrimage than an errand to buy reading material. We enjoyed the displays, but made no purchases. Then we drove into the town centre and made a quick sweep of the art galleries and charity shops. Our only purchase was a box of plasters from Boots (so that I can tend to a blister caused by my walking boots on my left heel).
Our next stop was IKEA in Gateshead. We had a very precise shopping list. We left with six jars of dill sauce, two shoe racks, two waste paper baskets, and a tin of biscuits - and nothing more. Lunch was half a sandwich and coffee/tea in a nearby branch of Starbucks.
Then it was time for our blipmeet! We drove to walkingMarj's house for a very convivial couple of hours of chat over coffee/tea and biscuits. walkingMarj snapped a selfie of the three of us before we left for our weekend stay up the road with Katherina in Hexham.
This evening we celebrated our reunion with a couple of bottles of fizz shared amongst four: Katherina, Katherina's daughter Ruby, Mr hazelh, and me.
Exercise today: walking (9,459 steps).
