Top deck
My headache hadn’t gone completely this morning but I needed to get out and felt hungry so decided to go into town, stopping on the way for breakfast at Kilimanjaro for a change. I enjoyed a full Scottish (first time in forever) whilst I listened to more of the Elif Shafak book which I’m really enjoying.
Despite it being yet another dull grey day I just strode down to book a cinema ticket for tomorrow, using one of my free tickets, and then walked via the St James’ Centre through St Andrew’s Sq (where the Paddington statue was still attracting a small queue of people waiting to pose next to him) and then along Princes St. I had a couple of things in mind to look for but in the end didn’t get anything. I was just about to walk home when VW texted to ask if I might go round this afternoon so I hopped on a bus to get back quicker (pleased to get the top deck front seat!) and stopped at the supermarket so I could get the ingredients to make her a lasagne and a fruit loaf.
Made them up when I got in, then drove round. She now has a whole leg brace on and needs to go back next week for an MRI scan to see if she has actually torn the ligament over her kneecap and check whether the small breaks in her tibia and fibia are ok not to treat. This makes her much less mobile, and so we tried to work out ways to help her eg carry things from the kitchen. I’ll go to some of the charity shops tomorrow to see if I can get some sort of trolley. We booked tickets for Swan Lake next May, and I signed her up for Instagram so she can look at pictures and videos of places we might visit in Vietnam and Cambodia, and we chatted about all sorts as usual which whiled away the afternoon. I put the lasagne in the oven for her and closed up the curtains then came home to have my portion of lasagne and watch Strictly.
A better day than yesterday but still don’t feel 100%…. I’m sure the weather’s gloominess is part of the problem!
