I wouldn’t mind living here
At last I got to see my cousin in Weybridge. People who see my journal regularly might remember I had to turn back last time I tried; the train got stuck for hours at Chippenham because of a suicide near Reading.
A is 88, pretty fit and active, and no loss of cognitive ability as far as I can see. She lives in an attractive block of retirement flats, above is one of several outside seated areas. Plus most flats have a balcony. So many activities- cards, rummikub, yoga, mah jong, book club, parties, many of which A has a hand in organising. There isn’t a Murder Club, (yet) but it’s a similar setting:-) Most of the ground floor is a very welcoming cafe.
A’s daughter S was there too - she’s actually closer to me in age. We all went to the pub for lunch and had a good laugh. S gave me a lift from and back to Reading station , as that’s close to her home. It was so nice to having a good heart to heart in the car:- about mums, worrying about sons, volunteering, cats and dogs:) She’s a lovely soul.
