Off to Venice ...

After a false start with a Flixbus, we took the train to San Marco.  We met the apartment host at the station and then walked to Canareggio.  What a beautiful apartment, location perfect too, directly over a canal.  It's minimal, stylish, well appointed, everything I'll never be, ha ha.

An afternoon stroll through the streets had me thinking Venice was a mistake.  So busy, so very busy, jostly, pushy, busy.  We got as far as the Rialto Bridge then ducked into the side streets to ... Silence.  Another world.   

We spent the rest of the day and night exploring and thought we'd missed our chance to find something to eat but one of the restaurants below the apartment was willing to serve us and had gluten free gnocchi for the needy-feedy.  

The art Biennale is on until November and, appropriately, the theme is 'Foreigners Everywhere'.
