Venus
FRIDAY
A lovely day, and mild enough for me to work outside in a short-sleeved T-shirt, however the forecast says winter is moving in this weekend so, I made the most of today’s sunshine and got a few more jobs ticked off the list.
First up was replacing the wall lamp on the steps up to the front door and whilst the power was off, I also replaced the driveway floodlight too. Both fittings—veterans from when the house was built some 20-odd years ago—were well past their best with PIR sensors that had a mind of their own.
Hopefully we’ve now got shiny new, energy-efficient lights at the front that actually do their job.
Next, I fitted some thermal insulation to the inside of the garage door. The garage extends under the house, so will see if it makes a noticeable difference to the temperatures in the garage and also upstairs.
Finally, the front and side lawns. The grass has been growing like mad, thanks to the late-summer feed and the mild autumn. Normally, the mower would’ve been packed away by mid-November, but not this year. Hopefully this might be the last cut of 2024.
I even managed a quick tidy-up in the garage before calling it a day.
I've been too busy to even think about a photo, but at 5:00 pm, I managed a shot of the evening sky with Venus visible just above the trees in the centre.
Apparently, it’s the "Beaver" Supermoon tonight, so there might be a photo opportunity later if I’m still awake.
