Milk Maid
I’m sure some of you will recognise these. This is the latest one I’ve completed since returning from our holiday. Prior to this it had been largely birds - plus the odd pear and gold ring.
Sounding familiar? I didn't want to show any of them earlier as it seemed rather crazy to be posting Christmas things out of season.
Yes this is a ‘maid a milking’ from the Twelve Days of Christmas.
I actually bought them in the sale earlier this year (less than half price and certainly much cheaper than buying each individually) and took the first two birds with me to Scotland in May for a bit of sewing to do in the light evenings.
They’re not perfect but I’ve enjoyed doing them (except for attaching beaks!) and there’s only really one that I’m a bit unhappy with. If it continues to bother me I have enough materials to re do it at some point in the future.
I’ve just started the dancing shoes which represent the ‘9 ladies dancing’. I then have a ’Lord a leaping’, a ‘piper piping’ and a ‘drummer drumming’ to do. Good job you don’t have to do the full numbers!
Very cold this morning with a heavy frost and snow forecast for tonight. Back to singing with more Christmas songs practised and a run through of sings for Ripon Cathedral at the weekend. We opted to go in April instead of November as numbers are limited.
More gigs coming up starting at the end of the month, Christmas song practising at church this evening too, it’s going to get busy!
