Just a quick look at
part of the old downtown, with
a thought of sketching....

I'd emptied my coffee pot by 8 and was still waiting in hopes of seeing the last of the cleanup crew....There's one last job - prune the desert willow in the backyard. At 10 when I was tired of waiting, I left for the historic downtown with my camera.

I focused on 1st Avenue near the new courthouse. There are several buildings in the area that are listed as historic properties. I found the Dressing Apartments (1915) and the former Gandolfo Theatre (1917), now a coffee shop and more. The theatre closed in 1950.

A block away is the former Methodist Episcopal Church (1905) and the little white house beside it,  the former Methodist Parsonage. "The Church" has become an event venue. I might assume the parsonage is now a private residence.

I got a quick photo of a Fairy Duster bush, loaded with bees, in the landscape near the new City Hall.

I was home for noon, but no sign of cleanup crew. I pried my shoes off my cranky feet and settled in to my recliner with my laptop and camera.

I'm home for the afternoon on this beautiful day.
