Then, Twenty-Five Years Later
It has been a fairly typical day. Hubby had a hair cut appointment first thing. He ran a few errands and came home. I made sausage sandwiches for breakfast. We went to the store to pick up the last few items my sister will take to WV for us and all but completed getting stocking stuffers. I am so close…. I logged in all the gifts, separated the frozen and perishable food my sister will take for us and am about to start food prep. She’ll freeze the scones and other breakfast items I make so they will be fresh for us on Monday. There is a big snowstorm on the way. I have seen reports of up to 20 inches along our travel route. Hopefully my sister and BIL will pass that area before the snow starts. And we are counting on the roads being cleared before we have to travel on them Sunday evening. We finally got Parker’s schedule. We will be able to get to Mass before his first game. And if the games start on time, we should be able to get to the farm before midnight. Love it when a plan comes together. Let’s see if it does. So, today marks our 25th wedding anniversary. We exchanged gifts, I found that picture of our hands from 1999 and decided to compare. I have a bit more bling and arthritis has bent some of the fingers but they look about as old as I thought they did in our late 40’s. I can honestly say these have been the best days of our lives. We are much more compatible with each other than with our first spouses. Young kids simply have no clue about picking life long partners. Some get lucky, others are strong enough to conquer the issues, and that is commendable. We both tried our best the first time without success. And we learned so much. This partnership is solid, maybe because we focus on each other’s needs as well as our own. Whatever the reason, I thank God He answered my prayers and sent me someone who loves me unconditionally. We are celebrating tonight, having dinner at a seafood restaurant with my sister and BIL. They have been our closest friends since we said “I do”; it’s fitting we share the day together. Wishing you an evening of good food and good friends. Stay safe. Thanks for dropping by. “It's amazing how one day someone walks into your life, and suddenly, you can't remember how you lived without them." - Anurag Prakash Ray
