An Indoor Day of Two Halves

Well, the atmospheric river has arrived with a vengeance. It began at about three o'clock this morning and has not stopped raining for one minute since. There are strong gusty winds which blow the rain sideways from time to time. They used to call it the 'Pineapple Express'  because it came across the Pacific from Hawaii and was quite warm. This one is caused by a meeting of the Arctic currents and the Southern ones and at some point becomes a 'Bomb Cyclone'.

I debated for quite awhile but finally decided not to go to Pilates today, even though I'm sure there will be a penalty for a late cancel. I just couldn't face going out in the storm and negotiating the winding two lane road with no shoulders separating it from the hill on one side and the creek on the other. I suspect the class was not too well attended today. It is the first serious rain of the season and we all have a little adjusting to do...

Having made that decision, I decided that we should tackle the last few piles of paper on John's workspace. We wound up keeping about three items from the 'to be filed' pile. All the piles on the work space have been reduced to the three shelves of the 'in basket'. I even managed to dust the top for the first time in about a decade. The printer in the center of the shot is dead and will be replaced by a smaller, simpler one. I suppose at some point we should take on the 8 drawers of filing cabinets but I'm inclined to take Lady Findhorn's advice and leave it to the kids to bung it all in garbage bags and bin it!  Out of sight out of mind as far as I'm concerned on that front.

Avert your eyes from the mass of wires under the desk. I'm not touching that!

In the afternoon I went back to work on my coat project. I've more or less decided on a pattern and a color scheme and made a single 4" patch which took me all afternoon. I think the pieces are just too small so I'm going to have to scale it up somehow. Throwing Spike's ball down the hall every two minutes didn't speed things up much, but he didn't want to go outside either!

The rain is supposed to continue for several more days with possible flooding, but I'm quite content to hunker down now that We've gotten a handle on the desk top and the coat project. I just hope the power stays on. It's very dark outside and there is not much hope for the solar back up to last long.

I won't show a picture of my worktable as it looks like the bomb cyclone has hit it!
