St. Agnes, West Chester
Up at 5:00 am, breakfast when it opened at 6:00 and on time for 7:00 Mass. We attended St. Agnes Catholic Church. There was only low lighting inside which gave a serene sense of reverence. The pastor was dynamic and gave a fantastic homily on our charges to be priest, prophet and king while on Earth. He provided realistic and easy to understand examples. We arrived at the lacrosse fields with time to spare before the first game at 8:50. Oh, what a dreadful day. It was cold, very windy and the boys lost all three games. These games are strictly to give college scouts a look at high school boys for future teams. Our coaches really feed these kids to the wolves because most teams competing here are ranked in the nation. Our team certainly isn’t. But he wants to give them the opportunity to be super challenged. And they were. What impressed me was that after the games there was no bickering, blaming or blues. The boys who also play on Parker’s high school team all crowded on a blanket Renee furnished and shared blankets and snacks, joking and resting for the next game. They knew they were outplayed as a team and their best wasn’t enough today. Brooklyn’s team fared the same. They lost 2-0. The coach moved Brooklyn into the goalie position after the opposing team scored two goals on our back up goalie. Brookie shut them out but her team failed to score. We are on the road at the moment. Jamie and Parker are taking a totally different route with hefty tolls but easier for his GPS to navigate. Hubby uses Google maps to determine his route and memorizes it. We have to stop for perishable groceries. We expect to get to the farm by 10:30. Jamie and Parker should arrive sooner unless they get lost. There is no cell signal the last hour of the trip. Jamie has stopped at the police station to get directions in the past. Wishing you a week of always knowing your way. Stay safe. Thanks for your visit. “The only way to prove you are a good sport is to lose.” - Ernie Banks
