A productive day
We’ve had a productive day.
A salesman from another firm came this morning. He gave us a lot more information than the previous guy and worked away at measuring, pricing etc without all the blah blaw. Needless to say we didn’t accept his offer so he came back with a better one, much more like what we hoped. He asked who’d put up the conservatory 20 years ago and we said that they had gone bust. This chap said they’d actually gone into liquidation twice and people lost their deposits. He gave us their new name - and guess what - he didn’t know this but it’s the company who came yesterday.
After lunch we went to Kingston Park to look at tiles for when/if the bathroom gets done. (We are still waiting for the estimates. The local tradesmen are so busy). When I said the suite was avocado the young assistant said we’d have paid a fortune to get one as they are in demand. Aren’t we lucky we didn’t get rid of it Hazel?! Anyway we found a lovely dark blue with a slight mottle of greenish colour. He was very helpful and got my taste and made good suggestions re trim and grouting colour. Floor tiles are more problematic - everything seems to be grey. (we aren’t sure whether to get underfloor heating as it’ll add a lot to the cost but even with a big radiator it’s a cold north facing room). I’ll play with the tile company’s app and a photo of the bathroom so that I can see what it would look like.
After that I popped into Grainger market to get buttons for my Shetland coat, and a packet of needles. It’s such a great covered market with scores of different stalls.
Our penultimate visit was to the Apple shop for a photography tutorial. (Haven’t I done well filling my empty diary!) He was really good and I picked up a few things about white balance, exposure and cleanup. They do a landscape course walk around town twice a week which I might do.
Finally it was a quick foray into Lidl for some wine and M&S for pepper crisps.
