Fenwicks Christmas Window
We drove to Whitley Bay to have a day out with the boys as their teachers were on an inset day. We walked to Whitley Bay metro - the route James chose was quicker than the one Thomas took Mr C on - to go the southern way round to Monument.
We got in the queue to see Fenwicks window which was outstanding this year, featuring 12 days of Christmas. It very hard to photograph because of the reflection of the shops opposite.
Then we went to Wagamama which I don’t care for but Mr C and the boys love. The boys had duck gyoza and a chicken curry Katsu each. It was packed and there were queues outside when we left. Northumberland Street and Elsdon Square were heaving. It’s still November. James persuaded us to get them a giant lolly (£5 each) on sale at one of the stalls.
We then headed up to the Hancock museum which they love. They know their way around and where to look for their favourites so we left them to it while we had a coffee.
We got them home in time for their friends arriving for Thomas’s birthday treat. (His birthday is next Saturday). #2 daughter was taking them to swim before bringing them back for pizza and a sleepover. She’s hoping that each year it will get easier! But I’m sure she’ll be glad when it’s 11.30 tomorrow and their parents pick them up.
Our friend Colin, who is au fait with such things, thinks we’ve got a good deal for the conservatory which has been reassuring.
