In Thanksgiving
We got up early to make sure we were ready by time to go to Thanksgiving dinner. I ran out of steam last night before making the apple pecan cake. It was my first job today. I baked the French toast casserole, our BIL made scrapple and I cooked over easy eggs for the guys. We supplied various fresh fruits. They were happy dinner wasn’t until 3:00. My sister and I called our mother. She was confused about her visitors this week. We reminded her who stopped by. She was appreciative of our call. We finally finished cleaning the kitchen and it was time to get ready to leave. Hoagie and Amy are such generous folks. They made Jamie and Parker feel so welcome. The meal was “indescribably delicious” as a famous jingle used to say. Hoagie’s duck was stubborn and did not reach the proper temperature until folks had finished their meal. He was a good sport about it though. The crowd enjoyed the desserts we contributed. We brought home very little. Renee, Kim and Kristen stayed in touch throughout the day. It sounds like everyone had even more for which to be thankful by day’s end. My good friends Laverne, Becky and Bo surprised our mother with a fine plate of Thanksgiving goodies. Life is good. The temperatures are going to dip below freezing beginning tomorrow. My sister says I must take the entire day off and sit with Sugar by the fire. My old legs agree with her. Wishing you the joys of Thanksgiving as you start to get into the Christmas season. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. "In November, people are good to each other. They carry pies to each other's homes and talk by crackling woodstoves, sipping mellow cider. They travel very far on a special November day just to share a meal with one another and to give thanks for their many blessings." - CYNTHIA RYLANT
