Weekend away
I’ve got so out of the habit of blipping, I now wonder how I had time to do it every day. But not putting the pressure on myself has been a positive thing.
Anyway I’m currently in our lovely little caravan, in the middle of the Sandringham camping and caravanning club site. We love it here, and arrived yesterday at 5pm after a quick exit from work at 4. We are only here until tomorrow but have had a relaxing but packed day today.
A lie in until 9 - the fresh air is so good for you - we had a small breakfast then with walking boots on, walked up to the Sandringham courtyard through the woods. The weather was perfect. Not cold or wet. We had a coffee in the courtyard. Then quite a long browse in the shop which resulted in a few Xmas purchases. The courtyard is filled with fairground rides, and a lovely Christmas tree. There is also a light trail set up through the woods, but at over £26 each to follow it, we chose to pass.
We had a second coffee including a cake, then wandered back through the woods, via the (unlit) lights trail.
Back at the site we had soup for lunch. We even sat outside it was so mild. Can it really be December tomorrow?
This year, we camped in our eriba over the new year in January, then April, July, August November and if we include tomorrow December too. I’ve just been sewing some badges on my camp blanket given to me by Daniel from his trip to USA plus another Stonehenge one I bought this month - the second one I have for Stonehenge this year! In total I’ve added 13 badges to it this year!
After lunch, we drove the few minutes up to Castle Rising. An excuse to use our English Heritage membership again. The castle is small, but interesting and was nice that we could get up to higher levels. I’ve lost count of how many castles we have visited this year, but we are both glad we chose to buy the English Heritage membership back in July when we visited Tintagel. We are now thinking where else we can fit in between now and October 25? We have already got our moneys worth, but are thinking we would like to see all of Hadrian’s Wall.
Relaxing now after dinner. I did some writing last night and am over 87000 words in my book. I’m keen to get to the end, but can’t rush it. I had a few more ideas today so had to make a note while we were having our coffee. It seems to be never ending!! Tonight though, I’m just going to read.
We will be leaving the site at midday tomorrow. We do love it here though - and as it only closes for a month, we will probably be back in March!! It is only an hour away, but gives us the detachment from home and work that we need - especially now work is at home too.
Recharged ready for Monday.
