Marjorie's ramblings

A wet Sunday in Haltwhistle

After a slow morning, I drove to the Milecastle Inn to meet Kay and Eric. We had roast lamb for Sunday lunch. The vegetables were varied and excellent. The Yorkshire pudding was stodgy but tasted OK. We enjoyed it.

We went via a quick coffee at Eric and Kay’s house to Haltwhistle Academy for an afternoon of music and dancing led by the local stage school. The children ranged from 3 to 15 (at a guess).

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it, although a production in three halves with two intervals could have been cut to a production in two halves for me. The seating was less than comfortable!

We watched as the children did their best. Many were watching the child next to them, so their timing in dance sequences was staggered. The teacher was off to one side, so children watched her for clues about their next moves!

You could pick out the ones who remembered the sequences and did them in time to the music. They often appeared to be ahead of the pack!

The Senior Group consisted of 5 girls and one boy. He sang and danced well. He has a good voice. We will watch out for him in the future.

It was too late to go to visit Margret by the time the show finished.

Mark has been trying to arrange for someone else in the village to organise a washing rota. It has proved much more difficult than anyone could have imagined! Offers like “I can wash on Tuesday and return the washing on Friday” will make scheduling tricky. It might be easier if I just keep on!! (No.)

Margret has shown some improvement over the last few days. She is still unable to attempt to walk but things are going in the right direction.
