Beach and Booze
The mild weather of the last 3 days has gone and it was another dark -1° start to my journey beachwards this morning. The Radisson Bleu hotel on the Royal Mile was flaunting its trade mark colours as I passed giving a colourful look to the street.
Four of us lasted a little over 5 minutes in the water. The tide was out and the breeze was off shore so that any waves were quite gentle. The journey home was as slick as it is possible to be. A hot shower and some down time and before I knew it I had to leave to meet the Maggie’s group for our Christmas lunch in the Art College.
The students had painted the windows and decorated the dining area so it was all looking very festive. Soup, turkey and roast potatoes etc, mince pie, sticky toffee pudding with stewed fruit and on the table crackers, mandarin oranges and sweets -all for £14. We provided the alcohol but the meal must be heavily subsidised by somebody, perhaps the University is the fairy godmother.
We rolled out for home, feeling as if we had eaten far too much which is exactly what we had. Maybe we had all learned a lesson to be more moderate in our eating and possibly in drinking too. Had I applied the latter to my alcohol intake I would not have had such trouble typing this blog!
