Pouring concrete
I don’t know why I wondered about filling my calendar due to the cancelled trip to Malaysia as I’ve had another busy day.
Mr C and I set off in sunshine to walk the 4.25 mile round to Pondicherry and West Hills. It took longer than expected as we had to stop for ages at Millionaire’s Row. They were pouring concrete into the foundations of another house and for some reason, unfathomable to me, Mr C was interested in stopping to watch. Some of these houses are enormous yet there’s only a metre between them. Obviously they have a great view but if I had over £1 million I’d not want to be huddled up beside other houses. Nice to know one of the local builders isn’t only the builder - he’ll be the owner of one.
We kept meeting people for a chat. Still on our street we met Doug and his collie. It was good to see him looking well and chatting as he’d had some kind of psychosis which seems to be responding to the drugs. At Pondicherry we met Louisa en route to her mum Hazel’s to get some icecream from her freezer as her little girl was off school with flu. Our GP, now retired, stopped on his way home on his mountain bike to ask about our trip to Albania as they have a house on Paxos which is close and he fancied a trip. He was pleased to see we were trying to stay fit. Next we met Shona and Rob who had a sore back so he and Mr C had to discuss back problems. By the time I got home I only had time to wolf down a banana and get down to Art Appreciation. It was a really good meeting as we’d all sent Geoff an example of one painting we liked and another we disliked. We have such a variety of tastes and knowledge so interesting discussions ensued. It was belting rain and dark when we came out so I was pleased to get a lift up the hill with Ros and Geoff.
We have decided to go back to watch Wolf Hall, shown almost 10 years ago, and work through to the latest one.
